  • 15 Teenage Romance Movies on Netflix

Are you looking for the best teenage romance movies on Netflix to help you unwind after a long weekend? Check out our list of some of the best teen romance stories on Netflix.

From classics like 10 Things I Hate About You to recent fan favorites like the To All Boys trilogy, you’re bound to find something that meets your taste.

    1. Submarine (2010)

    • Starring: Craig Roberts, Yasmin Paige, Noah Taylor, Paddy Considine, Sally Hawkins.
    • IMDb Rating: 7.3/10

Oliver is your regular 15-year-old teenage boy with a crush the size of the ocean who’d do anything to get the girl he likes to pay some attention to him.

Jordana, the object of his teenage fantasies, finally notices him. However, she’s only doing this to get a rise from her boyfriend, Mark.

Turns out, by some stroke of luck, the pair end up together and have a whirlwind romance interrupted by some family drama.

Do their family issues drive a permanent wedge between them, or can they find a way to help each other? Only one way to find out.

    2. A Birder’s Guide To Everything (2013)

    • Starring: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Katie Chang, Alex Wolff, James Le Gros, and Daniela Lavender.
    • IMDb Rating: 6.2/10

One of my favorite teenage romance movies on Netflix is A Birder’s Guide to Everything.

The storyline is unique and refreshing, with no high school drama and unnecessary love triangles.

There’s nothing wrong with love triangles; however, if you want something different and refreshing with minor touches of a crush here and there, this is the perfect match.

David Portnoy is fifteen; he lost his mum the previous year and is still grieving while his father is about to remarry.

He used to go bird-watching with his mum and has become obsessed with the act.

On his father’s wedding eve, he skips out with his friends for a bird-watching trip, where they make some groundbreaking discoveries.

    3. Flipped (2010)

    • Starring: Madeline Carroll, Callan McAuliffe, Rebecca De Mornay, Anthony Edwards, John Mahoney, Penelope Ann Miller, Aidan Quinn, Kevin Weisman.
    • IMDb Rating: 7.7/10

Flipped was adapted from a book with the same title written by Wendelin Van Draanen.

Although it was reportedly met with less enthusiasm than expected, it’s still one of the best teenage romance movies on Netflix.

It tells the story of a couple of high schoolers, Bryce, Julianna, Sherry, and Garrett.

Bryce moved into a new neighborhood with his family when he was just 7 and has Julianna from across the street wholly intrigued.

They’re teens now, and Julianna is still smitten with Byrce, so he makes moves, including getting with Sherry to try and shake her off.

However, there are a lot of other twists, friendships lost and gained, and maybe a love that gets requited.

    4. Stuck In Love (2012)

    • Starring:Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear, Lily Collins, Nat Wolff, Logan Lerman, Kristen Bell.
    • IMDb Rating: 7.2/10

Stuck in Love is one of those teenage romance movies on Netflix where you can enjoy a well-rounded love story from your favorite teen stars. The parents and the older siblings are not left out of the mix.

Bill Borgens is a writer who has been recently separated from his wife Erica who he still holds a torch for.

The couple has two kids, Rusty, who is in high school, and Rusty, a fun-loving college student.

Bill has refused to move on even when Erica has remarried, and he resorts to stalking her and her new husband.

Rusty and Sam aren’t left out of the love drama, with Sam trying desperately to avoid falling in love and getting hurt while Rusty pines over a popular girl at school.

If you’re a romantic and an avid reader, you should add this entry to your list.

    5. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

    • Starring: Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Larry Miller, Andrew Keegan, David Krumholtz, Susan May Pratt.
    • IMDb Rating: 7.3/10

Julia was the IT girl of the late 90s and early 2000s, and she did her big one on one of our favorite teenage romance movies on Netflix.

10 Things I Hate About You is a classic amongst teenage romance screenplays, and by the time you’ve sat through all 97 minutes of the movie, you’ll understand why.

Bianca and her sister Kate are raised under stringent circumstances and are banned from dating.

However, Cameron James, a new kid at school, has taken a particular interest in her.

To protect his daughters, especially the adventurous Bianca, Walter enforces a rule that allows Bianca to date only when her antisocial sister Kat starts dating.

    6. She’s All That (1999)

    • Starring: Freddie Prinze Jr., Rachael Leigh Cook, Matthew Lillard, Paul Walker, Jodi Lyn O’Keefe, Kieran Culkin, Kevin Pollak.
    • IMDb Rating: 5.9/10

A late 90’s classic, She’s All That, is one of our top recommendations of teenage romance movies on Netflix that you need to check out.

It features the legendary Paul Walker and other teen stars of that era. Freddie Prinze Jr. is cast as Zack, one of the most popular boys on campus at Southern California High.

Zack returns from the Spring holiday and learns that his girlfriend, Taylor, has been unfaithful, and had no choice but to call it quits with her.

Taylor is just as popular as he is and is guaranteed to be the school’s prom queen.

However, Zack is dared by his friend Dean to turn a regular girl into the new Queen in only six weeks, and it’s none other than Laney.

    7. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018)

    • Starring: Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Janel Parrish, Anna Cathcart, Andrew Bachelor, Trezzo Mahoro, Madeleine Arthur, Emilija Baranac, Israel Broussard, John Corbet.
    • IMDb Rating: 7/10

Any list of teenage romance movies on Netflix would be incomplete without the original movie series To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

It was released in 2018 as the first part of the To All the Boys trilogy and was met with much praise from critics and fans.

Here you’ll see Lana Condor play the role of Lara Jean, a teenage girl who writes letters to all her crushes that she never sends out.

Lara Jean goes to school one morning and discovers that all of her letters have been sent out to her past crushes, which leads her to get into a fake relationship with one of her crushes for mutual benefit.

Will they stick to the terms of their relationship, or does it become all too real for both parties?

    8. A Week Away (2021)

    • Starring: Bailee Madison, Kevin Quinn, Jahbril Cook, Kat Conner Sterling, David Koechner, Sherri Shepherd, Iain Tucker, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman.
    • IMDb Rating: 5.7/10

A week away is one of the few teenage romance movies on Netflix for Christian teens this decade.

Will is a teen delinquent currently being chased after he was caught with a cop car that he stole.

He has gotten away with several acts; however, this time, the law has caught up with him, and he has two options, go camping or juvie.

Will winds up in a summer camp with his foster brother George and during their stay, the boys he finds love, friendship, and God.

He has difficulty coming to terms with his newfound situation and the fact that he can be accepted despite his past transgressions.

    9. The Last Summer (2019)

    • Starring: KJ Apa, Maia Mitchell, Jacob Latimore, Halston Sage, Sosie Bacon, Wolfgang Novogratz, Gabrielle Anwar, Ed Quinn, Jacob McCarthy, Mario Revolori, Gage Golightly, Norman Johnson, Jr., Tyler Posey.
    • IMDb Rating: 5.5/10

The last summer showcases the activities and experiences of a couple of teens who have just finished high school and are enjoying their last summer holiday before college.

Most of the teens are paired up, and the film follows their various relationships as they deal with the confusion that comes with the uncertainty of handling a long-distance relationship.

Others are figuring out the best career path and dealing with the effect of poor decisions they may have made in the past. It is the perfect coming-of-age film on Netflix.

    10. Love, Simon (2018)

    • Starring: Nick Robinson, Josh Duhamel, Jennifer Garner.
    • IMDb Rating: 7.5/10

Love, Simon is one of the entertaining teenage romance movies on Netflix that follows the events that surround a closeted teen gay boy and the relatable challenges he faces.

Simon grows up in an exceptionally nurturing family and has three best friends, Leah, Abby, and Nick, who attend the same school as him.

However, Simons’s easy and peaceful life takes a beating after he starts chatting with an anonymous closeted gay from school.

First of all, he gets blackmailed into helping Martin to get Abby to spend some time with him.

Next, Simon embarks on a quest to find his online pen pal, who he has developed feelings for with little success.

She takes a trip to Colby to be with her absentee father believing that this is just what she needs to dig deep and discover herself.

Auden has trouble sleeping, a bad trait she picked up after having to stay up often during her parents’ marriage to make them stop fighting.

Clare is a senior in high school, and her parent’s divorce has left her with very few friends.

However, when she’s at a Halloween party with Stella, she makes a new friend, Aiden.

The connection was spontaneous, and they decided to date almost immediately. However, there’s a catch.

They must end their relationship by the following summer if they manage to stay together till then.

Will a relationship that started like a whirlwind last that long, and will both parties still be willing to let go if it comes down to it?

The movie is based on Raquel’s account of her experiences with Ares and his family.
